Last year was a wonderful year for my handmade wardrobe. I started the year with a few summer dresses and ended the year
Guess what guys… it’s the 1st May and you know what that means… It’s the start of Me Made May!
So last year was my first time taking part and it played such a transformative role in the development of my Me Made Wardrobe, as well as helping me connect with so many great sewists through my Instagram and blog. I’m therefore very excited to take part again this year. It will be a great chance for me to see how my wardrobe has developed since last year and also act as a great evaluative process.
If you’ve just read all of that and have no idea what Me Made May is, Me Made May was set up by Zoe from the blog So,Zo and has been running since 2010. Its aim is to encourage makers of all kinds to appreciate and love the clothes that they make. Makers are encouraged to create a pledge (that suits their needs) to wear Me Made for , you guessed it, the month of May. You can read all about it here.
So my pledge is as follows….
I, Dominique of dominiquemajor.com and @dominique.major, sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May ’17. I endeavour to wear at least one me-made item clothing of clothing each day for the duration of May 2017
This year I am making the conscious effort to sew what I love not what I think I should be sewing. While my wardrobe has grown and continues to grow, I am sewing for the sake of it much less. I sew what I love and I wear what I love (which sometimes means the odd RTW item, mainly t-shirts). So expect repeat items and the odd slip.
So how will I be documenting Me Made May? To keep up to date with my outfits follow me over on Instagram for outfit posts. I endeavour to post everyday but you know life plays a role in this. I will also try to include round ups here on this blog and a final evaluation of the month at the end.
I am excited for another month of seeing everyone’s wonderful handmade things and seeing new faces pop up.
Have you made a pledge for Me Made May? Let me know in the comments below what it is and don’t forget to leave your Instagram handle so I can follow your Me Made May adventures.
